UPCOMING AUDITIONS
AUDITIONS FOR HADESTOWN & MATILDA
We invite you to audition for Matilda the Musical and Hadestown: Teen Edition at Central Lakes College, part of our Brainerd Community Theatre season for summer 2025! Auditions will take place on Friday, March 28, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and Saturday, March 29 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. If you’re unavailable on these dates, don’t worry—simply email us at [email protected] to arrange an alternate time.
Auditions are open to anyone in the community—no prior experience is required! We welcome first-timers and seasoned performers alike. If you enjoy singing and feel comfortable with light movement for choreography, we’d love to see you there.
These shows do have age requirements, however, so please note those below when you select the shows for which you will audition.
We will have an audition prep session on Friday, March 21 at 4:30 PM for those interested in learning about the audition process and preparing a song for your audition.
Rehearsals are planned for four to five evenings a week, beginning in May. Hadestown: Teen Edition will most likely rehearse 4:00-6:00, and Matilda will most likely rehearse from 6:30 to 9:00.
Hadestown: Teen Edition performs June 24-26, June 29, and July 1-3
Matilda the Musical performs July 22-26 and July 29-Aug .
HADESTOWN Cast Description
Orpheus: (Tenor with strong falsetto, D3-C5) Lyre-playing poet, gifted and naïve
Eurydice: (Mezzo-Soprano/Alto, F#3 – D5) A runaway, tough and vulnerable
Hades: (Bass, F2-C#4) Compulsive industrialist, boss-king of Hadestown
Persephone: (Mezzo-Soprano/Alto, F3-C5) Queen of nature and the season, a lush
Hermes: (Tenor/Baritone, C3-B4) Charismatic guide and storyteller, mentor to Orpheus
Fates (3): (Soprano, Mezzo-Soprano, Alto, E3-D5, fate 1 up to E♭5) Three Sisters, vicious and delicious, voices in the head
Workers: (Soprano: F#3 – E5, Alto: E♭3-D5, Tenor: G2-A♭4, Bass:E♭2 – A♭4) Spirits of labor and community, a physical choral presence
MATILDA Cast Description
Matilda Wormwood: An imaginative girl who is clever and wise far beyond her years. She has a thirst for learning that cannot be quenched.
